CAEN S.p.A. is a leading Italian company in the field of nuclear electronics and scientific instrumentation, with over forty-five years of experience in designing and manufacturing innovative solutions for research centers, universities, healthcare, and industry worldwide.
The company’s main activities focus on the development of advanced electronic systems for radiation detection, nuclear measurements, and data acquisition, combining high performance with reliability and user-friendly design. CAEN’s mission is to support the scientific and industrial community by providing cutting-edge technologies that foster knowledge, safety, and innovation in nuclear and radiation applications.
Within the XS-Ability project, CAEN plays a key role as leader of Work Package 2 “Requirements analysis: specifications and safety”, guiding the definition of requirements and safety specifications. In addition, we are developing two innovative radiation monitoring instruments:
a Gamon sensor capable of detecting gamma rays and neutrons, to be integrated on the SPOT® robotic platform;
a large surface contaminameter for alpha and beta surface contamination, integrated into the Sentinel® automation system for the scanning of high and wide walls.
Through these solutions, CAEN ensures precise monitoring, reliable safety assessment, and the effective integration of nuclear technologies into robotic platforms, enabling safe and efficient operations in complex environments.
