The first official XS-ABILITY Newsletter has been published, marking an important milestone for the project funded by the European Union’s Horizon Euratom Programme.
This first issue introduces the XS-ABILITY project and its mission to reshape the future of nuclear Dismantling and Decommissioning (D&D) through advanced robotics, compact nuclear instrumentation, and AI-driven data management. The newsletter presents the project’s main objectives, focused on improving safety, efficiency, and sustainability in nuclear decommissioning operations.
Readers can also get to know the international consortium behind XS-ABILITY, bringing together eight partners from seven European countries, combining expertise in nuclear research, robotics, artificial intelligence, and industrial engineering.
The newsletter highlights key project activities, including:
- The official online Kick-Off Meeting with all partners and the EU Project Officer
- The visit to the G2 Reactor at the Marcoule Nuclear Site (France), providing valuable real-world insights into D&D challenges
- The 2nd General Assembly held in Marcoule, focused on requirements analysis, safety, and future demonstrations
- XS-ABILITY’s participation in the European Robotics Forum 2025 in Stuttgart, strengthening synergies between robotics and AI
This first issue offers a clear overview of the project’s vision, early progress, and upcoming steps.
